The plot

Merlin (Mario Ganss) is a man with a sad past: in a tragic accident he lost his girlfriend Penny (Marlene Hoffmann) and feels responsible for her death. He works as an editor and is immersed in editing a film project when he realizes that he is in a time loop. Every few minutes, time stops, runs backwards, and then starts all over again. Within this time loop, Merlin keeps receiving the same package, unknown to him, with no sender.

After vain attempts to escape the time loop, he understands that the package did not arrive at him by chance exactly within this time loop. In the package he finds all sorts of bizarre-looking objects and a message from the time traveler Thadeus Moff (Götz Otto). With his help, Merlin learns not to stop the time loop, but to shift its starting point. To do this, while time is running backwards, he must create an event that has not happened before - and the adventure begins.

He meets a mute swordswoman, named Ava (Jasmin Wagner). Together, the two embark on their journey to complete an initially puzzling task. "Kill the clown and save the mermaid" is the message of the time traveler. The unequal team of Ava and Merlin soon realizes what exactly this is all about, because Ava also has a similarly tragic past to deal with as Merlin. The path leads them to different locations, where the fight against the time loop is not the only obstacle. Together Merlin and Ava try to find out what the goal of their odyssey is, until they finally leave their reality and the adventure, beyond space and time, reaches its climax.
